The Allied force included the 1st French and 4th British Armies, and combined Australian and Canadian forces led the attack. The attacking force involved 75,000 men, more than 500 tanks and nearly 2,000 planes, making it one of the first major battles involving armoured warfare. The Battle of Amiens was fought from 8 to 11 August 1918 and was the beginning of the Hundred Days Offensive that led to the end of the First World War.
